Hi, I'm Kristin!For years, I thought I had to choose between doing work I loved and earning a good living. First, I followed my passion. Then, I became a college art professor and spent several years teaching at colleges and universities along the East Coast.I loved teaching, and I loved creativity (still do)!But I didn't love piecing together multiple jobs just to pay the bills, so then I swung to the other extreme.I spent more than a decade in finance, working as a mortgage loan officer. I loved helping people buy their first homes, but if I'm honest, I was never passionate about interest rates.After the pandemic hit and interest rates climbed, I found myself sitting across from people who had done everything right—good jobs, good credit, money saved—and telling them they still couldn't afford to buy a home. All of a sudden, the part of my work that brought me joy was disappearing.As business slowed, and I started chasing opportunities based on fear instead of fit. So, I got another license (this time in insurance!), and I applied for different jobs. I was convinced at one point that I wans going to work for my local library. Then I tried side hustles and had several going at once. I looked everywhere for answer to my career crisis.Nothing felt right!Then I realized something that changed the course of my life.I was making decisions based on desperation and not based on the two things forever in my control -- my skills and my interests.Around that same time, I looked at what I was already doing in my own life.I was constantly creating birthday parties for my kids, designing decorations, making classroom gifts, and helping busy moms celebrate the people they loved.It never felt like work, and I always had so much fun curating little gifts and decorating cakes and homes for birthdays. It felt like such an easy decision, and because of my stills and passion, it was SO easy for me to work on and pursue.And everything really shifted for me.I wasn't just selling party supplies. I was helping busy moms create joyful memories with their families. I was making children smile as a part of my job! The work energized me, and the customers loved it.The business grew into a successful six-figure company, but the biggest surprise wasn't the income.It was this: I worked harder than I ever had before, YET I wasn't burned out.I learned when your work aligns with who you are, it feels different.
